It had been a month since the tsunami they were having a little celebration in honor of Buck.

Buck felt very uncomfortable with this but he kept quiet because everyone was so adamant about it.

Finally they made an announcement about a special surprise. He was being given an award for outstanding service from all the lives he saved during the tsunami.

Christopher had also made a special picture.

“Buck,

You are a great firefighter and friend. Thank you for keeping me safe.

Love,

Christopher”

Buck took the picture and thanked Christopher for it, before running to the bunk room.

Eddie and Bobby seemed to be the only ones who realized how distressed he seemed.

“You ok?” Bobby asked.

“No. This isn’t right I don’t deserve any of this I don’t need to be awarded for doing what’s right. I’m not even worth all this fuss.” Buck said.

“What?” Eddie said pushing his way past Bobby. 

Eddie sat right next to Buck putting his hand on Bucks shoulder.

“Buck I’ve never met anyone who cares as much as you. You changed so many lives the day of the tsunami. You saved my son and you saved all those people.” Eddie said.

“I lost him.” Buck cried. “If I were a hero or if I deserved this I would have kept him with me and safe the whole day.”

“You have to stop thinking this way. It was a natural disaster you did everything you could.” Eddie said placing his hands on Bucks cheeks and turning his head so he was looking him in the eyes.

Bobby had one of those telling looks where he sees their connection and left the bunk room.

“You don’t have to call yourself a hero, but you are my hero and I know you’re Christopher’s hero too.” Eddie said.

“What if something had happened to him,: Buck cried.

“Christoper is safe and we don’t need to think that way. My son is safe because of you, I am so thankful he has you to look out for him.” Eddie said pulling Buck closer for a hug.

As they pulled apart Buck tried to kiss Eddie, but he pulled away.

“I’m sorry,” Buck said.

“No! Don’t be sorry. I want to kiss you, but you’re really emotional right now and I don’t want this to be something you regret.” Eddie said.

“Regret? I’ve been wanting to kiss you since the day I met you.” Buck smiled.”I mean unless I look like a mess then we can just try this again sometime.”

“You look great, but I’d rather our first kiss didn’t have an audience of our friends.” Eddie laughed and pointed at the team all standing there.

Buck burried his head in Eddies shoulder and blushed.

“How about dinner tomorrow and we can try that whole kiss thing again.” Eddie smiled.

“I’d like that.’ Buck grinned.
