It takes Tony five minutes to convince himself to call

It’s wrong, its so very wrong of him to call because its ass o’clock in Wakanda but T’Challa had said he worked long hours - but does Tony want to abuse this privilege so early into their friendship? 

In the end, it doesn’t matter because FRIDAY makes the choice for him 

The line clicks open and T’Challa’s baritone voice seeps through the speaker of his phone, “Anthony?” 

Tony huffs, “I am going to presume that getting you to call me Tony is a lost cause”

“You have a pretty name,” T’Challa says and Tony can hear his smile, “It would be wrong of me to cheapen it in any manner”

“That’s very poetic for 3 o’clock in the morning,” Tony teases, “speaking of - why are you up so late? I kind of called on a whim, I didn’t actually think you would pick up”

“I keep odd hours Anthony I’ve told you this before. I’m glad you called, I’d hate for you to be alone tonight”

Tony looks out at the thin layer of snow collecting outside, “I flew out to Berlin,” he says after a couple of seconds, “couldn’t bear to be in the US for this. Mom always wanted to take me to Berlin, felt like I owed it to her to see what all the fuss was about”

“And?” T’Challa’s voice is curious - but not forceful, “how was your first day?”

“Bit shite,” Tony says with an empty chuckle, “spilled on snow and fell on my ass and had the morbid thought of oh this is what happened with my parents except they were in a car”

“Tony I -” T’Challa starts to say something but Tony cuts him off, “Its really late and I don’t want to keep you up much longer. Just wanted to hear your voice for a couple of second. Good night T’Challa”

On the other end of the line, in between silk sheets in a bed in the palace of the Wakanda - T’Challa waits until he’s certain that the call is severed to whisper “good night my love” into the open air
